Going Green Together

Going Green Together is a unique new pilot scheme helping North East voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to take climate action.

Developed by the  VONNE Climate Action Alliance and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and County Durham Community Foundation, the £300K pilot programme is the first of its type in England and aims to gain significant insights on engaging VCSE organisations to take climate action.

The programme has three components:

Think Green Together is an open-access programme of resources, case studies, training and events for anyone to use. Organisations are encouraged to sign up to the newsletter to join the Going Green Together community (over 200 organisations have already signed up) and be notified of any new resources and events we are hosting over the coming year.

Become Green Together is a new programme of environmental training events, courses and access to specialist tools and frameworks to embed environmental sustainability across VCSE organisations. The programme is open to 110 VCSE organisations across the North East and Cumbria. With Become Green Together, organisations will gain subsidised access to tools for calculating their carbon footprint and learning how to reduce it, and accreditation with Investors in the Environment, as well as accessing a wide range of learning opportunities.

Act Green Together is partnering with fourteen organisations across the North East and Cumbria to allocate seed funding and help develop new environmental projects with communities over the following year. This will kickstart new ventures in environmental action, and discover more about how to create effective green change within the VCSE sector.
