Could you do with some extra money to get your business off the ground or to help fund a new product or service?

If you’re looking to get your business idea off the ground or bring a new product to market, crowdfunding could be right for you.

Crowdfunding does exactly what it says on the tin, it helps people and businesses raise money from a crowd of people.

Imagine being able to pitch your business idea, or innovation, to a room full of hundreds of thousands of budding investors.

That is exactly what crowdfunding offers, an online platform where the ‘average Joe’ can invest as little as £1 in a business or project without any tie-ins.

On most crowdfunding platforms, users are not investing in the project or business; rather, they are funding it.

They are rewarded if the project comes to fruition, but don’t end up owning any part of the business or project.

This model of little or zero equity in return for funding has made crowdfunding one of the most popular forms of alternative finance in recent years.

In fact, according to research by Nesta, more than one million people took part in crowdfunding £3.2bn worth of loans, investments and donations in the UK in 2015 alone!

Interested in launching a crowdfunding campaign? There are a number of methods available from Crowdcube to KickStarter .

See which one suits you!
