The Durham Business Opportunities Programme (DBOP) aims to help your County Durham business grow by linking you with tangible opportunities to help facilitate your business growth, which could be a new contract, finding new premises, a new supplier or perhaps some investment.
We focus on reaching businesses that have not yet taken up existing support for whatever reason. We aim to understand the issues you face, possible barriers to growth and help you to access business support by simplifying the business support map so that we can help you to identify and go after opportunities for growth.

Engineering and Manufacturing Network
The Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN) is funded by and a delivery partner of the Durham Business Opportunities Programme (DBOP). DBOP works closely with EMN, the organisation tasked with supporting the continued growth of the area’s engineering and manufacturing industries.EMN take the lead on engagement with SMEs in the engineering and manufacturing sector, in particular by identifying market opportunities.
Intensive business support strands
The Durham Business Opportunities Programme includes a number of sector-specific areas of business support. The intensive programme of support focuses on delivering assistance that is tailored to a specific sector identified as having high growth potential. The programme includes one on one support and workshops delivered by industry experts to help businesses overcome barriers to growth in these sectors and take advantage of development opportunities.
Now that the programme is in its second three year cycle the programme has number of a new intensive business support strands that are scheduled to start delivery in May/June 2020. This includes ‘Construction Routes to Contract Success’ – a strand aimed at supporting County Durham Based companies in all stages of construction project identify and win public and private contact opportunities and support for the manufacturing and engineering sector.
